Testimonials from Coaches

Greg Mittelsteadt (HLC: 1995-present)
"Coaching for HLC allowed me to "test drive" new strategies and ideas during the summer in preparation for my college season. The opportunity to coach summer players allowed me to maintain and enhance my contacts with NCAA coaches and summer coaches and was an entertaining and innovative way to accomplish a lot of "off- season" recruiting."

Tish Reabe (HLC: 1995-1998)

"I began coaching with Higher Level Camps when it began in 1995.  At that time I was not coaching anywhere.  I was really impressed with the way Higher Level Camps was run.  We ran actual practices and had the players working on the basics.  There was not a scrimmage every time and I liked that.  I learned a lot of different drills and activities during the years that I coached with Cheryl and I still use some of those things now in my own program.  I am currently the varsity girls basketball coach at Brillion High School, and have been for the past 5 years.  Coaching with Cheryl and Higher Level Camps did give me some quality experience which helped me to have the confidence to coach at the varsity level."

John Ross (HLC: 1999-2002) ossoss (HLC: 1999-2002)
"HLC gave me my first opportunity to be a head basketball coach. HLC helped me develop my current coaching philosophy and style. Furthermore, working with other great coaches increased my knowledge of basketball. HLC is organized by a great person in Cheryl Mohr and attracts top notch people and basketball players from the state of Wisconsin. In conclusion, I had a ton of fun with HLC. What an awesome program to be associated with for several years of my life."

Mark Ross (HLC: 1998-2002)
"Coaching at HLC has helped me focus more on developing each individual athlete than on winning. While winning is still a top priority for any team, the process of taking each athlete to their next level of play is automatically going to make your team better."

Dave Reinemann: (HLC: 2000-2002)
"My experience in HLC has helped me tremendously in my coaching career. HLC not only gave me a solid base of basketball knowledge and fundamentals, but it also offered me a system of coaching and teaching that I can use. Most importantly, during my experience with HLC I learned to develop communication skills and people skills that are the foundation of any successful coaching career."

"Thanks for all of your help in the past Cheryl. I often find myself using drills of concepts that I learned from you. I wish you continued success. God Bless."

Aimee Lamb:  (HLC: 2000-present)

"I began coaching with HLC in 2000 as an assistant coach with the 12 and under team. From there I have coached at every level with HLC and it has also given me opportunities to coach at the middle school and high school level during the school year. I have taken with me the understanding that each player should be given an equal opportunity to develop their game. I now have the leadership skills and knowledge of the game to conduct practices and implement teachable moments during games"

Tabitha Weavers:  (HLC: 2000-2005)

"HLC has allowed me to meet many great people. People I worked with as well as coached. I have gained a lot of confidence through my coaching with HLC. When I first started I was timid and didn't know how to get things going on the court. Now I have confidence and can figure out what my team needs to develop into the best team they can be."

Brett Killion: (HLC: 2002-2006)

"HLC had been a major influence on my coaching philosophy and my development as a coach. HLC is a player development program, not just another AAU program that just goes out there to play a bunch of games. HLC emphasizes the fundametals and getting players to improve their overall game. This is something I am taking back to my high school program: focus on the fundamentals and you will be successful."

"what I like about working for HLC is its family atmosphere.  Cheryl and the entire coaching staff took time to get to know the players on a personal level which is something you do not get at most AAU programs.  The coaching staff has a special bond with each other and with the players on their team.  It is a fun organization to work for."

Courtney Loehr: (HLC: 2006-present)

Chris Spencer: (HLC:2007-present)
