Vol. 9 No. 1/ March, 2007

FROM THE DESK OF CHERYL MOHR:
Greetings from Mt. Calvary, WI.  As the basketball season at the high school and middle school is coming to an end we are looking forward to our 13th year for HLC.  At our office we have a few things to do. Just to name a few:  finalizing our practice schedule, signing up for tournaments, ordering uniforms, interviewing coaches to work in our program, answering the phone, returning phone calls, responding to e-mail, sending our letters, updating the website, talking to tournament directors, college coaches, high school coaches and on and on and on.

This time of year we spend a number hours each week planning for our spring and summer programs.  It seems like the work in endless and overwhelming at times.  When our practices get here I am delighted to be spending time in the gym and at tournaments.

At times in life it seems we get in a cycle where we are constantly doing things and never have any down time.  It seems like our minds never slow down.  My son Michael gave me some words of wisdom the other day.  He told me this story.  "Mom, Jeffery is really smart in math.  He is probably the smartest 2nd grader in math at our school.  God gave me just enough room in my brain to learn addition, subtraction, multiplication and a little more room just to begin to learn division."   Michael smiled at me with his story as if to say I am learning what I can and doing the best I can and enjoying being a kid as he went off to play with his toys.  As I began to process this, Michael is teaching me it is OK to be good at some things and maybe only average in other things.

Our children;  what a blessing. Hug your kids today.

We look forward to another fun year with HLC and our families.  We will see you the 3rd weekend in April.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Mohr
